Efficient pipe production

Al Gharbia Pipe Company has successfully taken into operation its new LSAW (Longitudinal Submerged Arc Welded) pipe plant. The new LSAW large-diameter pipe production facility was built at the Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi (KIZAD), by a consortium of Larsen & Toubro Limited and SMS group as the EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) partner. 

Tata Steel India orders slab conditioning line from SMS group

Tata Steel India has awarded SMS group the order to supply a slab conditioning line (scarfing line) for its Kalinganagar works. SMS group will supply the complete mechanical and electrical equipment of the slab conditioning line, including slab handling equipment and a fume extraction system that incorporates a wet electrostatic precipitator. Commissioning of the slab conditioning line is scheduled for the first quarter of 2021.

JSW Steel Upgrades Reheating Furnaces

Fives received an order from JSW Steel, India’s leading steel producer, for an upgrade project of its reheating furnaces at JSW Steel Vijayanagar Works, which currently produces 12 million tons per year. Fives will modernize two reheating furnaces to increase their efficiency and capacity from 250 tons per hour to 295 tons per hour to meet the new requirements of the hot-strip mill N1. Both walking-beam furnaces were previously supplied by Fives. The project for both furnaces is scheduled to be completed by 2021.
