Ellison’s business generated revenues of $ 59 million (£ 48 million) for 2019, with associated pro-forma EBITDA of $ 12 million (£ 10 million). This represented revenue growth on 2018 of 17 %, while pro-forma EBITDA increased 48 %, reflecting the fact that Ellison has been successfully gaining share. This also positions the business for further revenue and profit growth in future years. Bodycote will receive tax benefits worth at least $ 30 million (£ 24 million) in the years to come. Ellison employs almost 400 people across six sites located across the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Fives received an order from CELSA Group, a manufacturer of steel long products based in Spain, for a walking-beam furnace. The furnace, which has a capacity of 120 tons per hour, will reheat billets of different sections and lengths to serve a new rolling mill that specializes in the production of steel billets from the recovery of scrap. The furnace includes complete digital on/off control and heat-curve control for optimum combustion. It will be installed in the CELSA France plant located in the municipalities of Boucau and Tarnos, New Aquitaine region. Commissioning is scheduled in the fall.

Danieli received the final acceptance from Turkish steelmaker Atakas for six bell annealing furnaces. The supply consisted of the addition of six new bases (three furnace bells and three cooling bells) to the existing BAF eight-base line installed and started-up by Danieli in 2018. The upgraded facility is now capable of processing prime-quality annealed sheet products of cold-rolled carbon steel for the automotive market. The maximum diameter of coils is 2,000 mm (78.7 inches), with strip thickness ranging from 0.3 up to 2.0 mm.

Kirsh is now taking measures to ramp up production to at least twice that, for just their first order. “They’re not sure of how many actual ventilators they’re going to need,” he says, “so there’s a sense of urgency not only for how much capacity we have – of which we have plenty to fill their needs – but also how quickly can we get these castings made, get them painted and get them into the receiving docks at GE so that they can get them into completed units.”

The fully electric multi-radius tube bending machine CNC 80 E TB MR is ensuring extremely short cycle times for the experts for cold and hot forming. The key to this productivity gain is Schwarze-Robitec’s intelligent NxG control system. Production time is reduced by 20 to 40 percent depending on the component and the desired tube geometry.
