India has formally requested dispute consultations with the World Trade Organization regarding the US' Section 232 tariffs on steel and aluminum, the WTO said Wednesday.
India claims the duties of 25% on steel imports and 10% on aluminum imports the US began implementing March 23 are inconsistent with provisions of the WTO's General Agreement of Tariffs and Trade and with the WTO's agreement on safeguards.
China and the EU have already requested meetings with the WTO on similar grounds.
