Joe White Tank in Fort Worth, Texas, has embarked on new research to give pipe production a market edge. PIPE TRADE FAIR 2024 has learned that, to meet market demands, the company has invested in acquiring Novarc's Spool Welding Robot (SWR). This new equipment offers precise torch control and machine learning algorithms capable of detecting various features of the workpiece.
The equipment is designed specifically for pipes, pressure vessels, and other types of rolled welding workpieces. It features an adaptive control system and artificial intelligence/machine learning algorithms that can detect weld pool characteristics, ensuring accurate torch control.
Soroush Karimzadeh, Novarc's co-founder and CEO, stated that the SWR can seamlessly integrate with customers' production processes and existing manufacturing workflows.
Moreover, the SWR's design takes up a small footprint while covering a long range, making it suitable for any type of workshop layout. Its design aims to minimize disruptions to the production process.
Pipe projects often require hard starts and stops with little time to bring in additional personnel. From a long-term perspective, acquiring the SWR equipment can strategically increase capacity and mitigate the impact of short-term labor fluctuations.
The SWR also assists less experienced operators in achieving high-quality welds, addressing the nationwide shortage of skilled welders.
