Statistics from China Plastics Processing Industry Association show that in 2022, the aggregate statistical enterprises in China's plastics industry completed a cumulative output of 77.716 million tons, and the revenue of the enterprises above designated size was 228.53 billion yuan. Facing multiple difficulties, exports still maintain a relatively high growth rate, and the export of plastic products in 2022 amounted to 107.81 billion U.S. dollars, realizing a trade surplus of 88.15 billion U.S. dollars, accounting for 10% of the country's goods import and export trade surplus. The aggregate statistical enterprises of China's plastic products industry from January to July this year completed a cumulative output of 41.642 million tons, an increase of 0.5%; total exports of 58.22 billion U.S. dollars, a year-on-year decline of 5.1%.The industry has been hit harder by multiple impacts.
Industry experts said that the current state of development of China's plastic pipe industry shows a relatively stable total output, steady growth in exports, further increase in industry concentration, expanded application areas, accelerated pace of scientific and technological innovation, enhanced product quality, advancement of intelligent work, attention to the sustainable development of green and environmental protection and other characteristics.
By the end of 2022, China has more than 10 plastic pipe manufacturers with annual production capacity of over 400,000 tons, more than 20 companies with over 200,000 tons, and more than 30 companies with over 100,000 tons. The industrial enterprises have more than 10 national technical centers, over 40 provincial technical centers, about 40 CNAS national accredited laboratories, and more than 10,000 patented technologies. The development of China's plastic pipe industry is facing new opportunities and new challenges.
In the view of industry insiders, the new pattern of economic development has brought new opportunities and challenges to the development of China's plastic pipeline industry. The new opportunities are mainly reflected in the intensive introduction of relevant policies by the state, and there is still much room for development, application potential and market resilience of plastic products. The new challenges are reflected in the imbalance of industrial structure, overcapacity, uneven product quality, fierce competition within the industry, and the phenomenon of not paying attention to quality and winning by "price".
