JMC Rollmaster Div. of Johnston Mfg. Co. Inc. has upgraded its Amazing Mother Tube Calculator. The free, online program, V3.2, now has an optional pop-up window that shows the finished shape. Other upgrades are intended to make the calculator more iPhone-friendly for use in the field.
The software’s mathematical algorithms use gauge thickness and bend ratio data to estimate girth changes caused by bending deformation and compression. It outputs dimensional data, as well as the estimated round, or “mother” tube, required to produce square, rectangular, oval, hexagon, and D-shaped tubes. It also can solve four-arc elliptical ovals when only three of four variables are known.
Flag texts prevent unusable data entry, and custom dialog text windows can be opened to explain key features and functions.
